I had trouble getting the cap off, and customer service returned my call right away and patiently explained how to open this particular type of childproof cap. The product is great, instantly stopped the squeak on a pet door. I would recommend the product and the company highly.

Squeaks (Instantly and Completely) Gone!

This product could not have worked any better or more quickly. I bought it for our kids squeaky bedroom door hinges. Every time we would go in to check on them, we risked waking them up thanks to the extremely loud squeaks the doors produced. After applying Squeaks Gone, the squeaks were literally gone in seconds. The doors don't make a single sound when opening now. I was hoping it would help, but I didn't know it would work so incredibly. Awesome product.
