BG oil additive was added to Quaker State 10W-30 at the recommended rate. BG shows a rapid rise in friction initially when temperatures of the oil are increasing. At some critical temperature the friction reducing molecules in the BG product become activated and friction begins to decline. The BG product appears to provide little friction reduction during the critical start up period when most of the engine wear occurs. The result is BG has the highest wear scar for any of the tested products (0.68 mm). The BG wear scar is 89% higher than the wear scar for PlanetSafe-OT (0.36 mm) for the 60 minute test period.
